How we do it

Most blockages are a half-hour job: rods or a hand auger for sinks, baths and toilets, the jetter for outside drains and anything packed with fat or wipes. You pay a fixed price for the first hour — £95 inside the house, £120 for an outside drain — which covers the large majority of jobs.

We lift the chamber cover, find which run is holding, and clear it from the downstream end so the blockage goes away from your house rather than back into it. Afterwards we wash down the chamber and surrounds and run a test flush so you can see it moving.

If a drain blocks twice in a year, it is telling you something: a dip in the pipe, a joint that has moved, or roots. We will say so, and suggest a CCTV survey rather than coming back to jet it every winter.

Questions about drain unblocking

Is jetting safe for old clay drains?

At the right pressure, yes. We start low and step up, and if the camera shows a cracked or displaced pipe we stop and tell you before going on.

What about fat and wipes?

They cause most of the blockages we clear. We will show you what came out, which usually makes the point.
